At the winter and spring of 1998-1999


Veneen runko oli tumman sininen ja maalattu Miranolilla, joka lohkeili monesta paikasta. Päätin puhdistaa rungon vanhoista maaleista ja samalla kyllästää sen. Minkä tahansa remontoinnin yleisenä ominaisuutena taitaa olla se, että työn edetessä työmäärä vain kasvaa ja uusia korjattavia kohteita löytyy jatkuvasti. Niin kävi minullekin: Maaleja poistaessa paljastui, että ylin lauta oli yläreunastaan törmäyslistan alta aivan mätä ja tietysti molemmilta laidoilta. Olihan se sisältä nähtävissä, että sieltä täältä lauta oli pehmeä, mutta, että lähes koko matkalta... Styyrpuurin sivukanteen oli edellinen erittäin lyhytaikainen omistaja kerennyt tekemään aika karkean korjauksen ja kansihan vuosi aikalailla. Eli styyrpuurin sivukansi piti rakentaa uudestaan kansipalkistoineen, tiikkeineen ja ylimpine lautoineen. No tuumasta toimeen, kevät on lyhyt.

The hull was painted with a type of paint that wasn't suitable. From couple of places it was cracking  away. I desided to take it all away and impregnate  the hull. I believe it's common that when you start some renovation the amount of work is growing all the time as the work goes on. That happened to me too. When I stripped off the paint I found out that the most upper board was almost complitely rotten from both sides of the boat. Well... when I inspected the boat I saw the most upper board is soft from couple of places, but the whole board!! One very short time former owner had done some coarse renovation to the starboard deck and of course it was leaking and looked awfull. So ...I had to start renovation from there. The whole starboard side deck had to be renewed with the supporting beams, the plywood, the teak layer and the most upper board. Well.. get on with it, the spring time is short !

with an oil mixture of pine oil and tar. 

Työt tulivat aikanaan tehdyiksi ja vene saatiin veteen kesäksi -99

The job got done and we got the boat on the sea for the summer of -99. The job got done.

Osallistuin ensimmäisen kerran Scyllien tapaamiseen 

ja MM-99 kisoihin.

I took part the first time for the Scylla meeting and 
unofficial world champion sailing competition.
